Combating black water when hit with a storm
When Hurricane Matthew hit the Carolinas in October of 2016, SERVPRO of Bordentown/Pemberton quickly responded to the Outer Banks to assist the local community. Our crews responded to multiple homes and used their expertise and professional training to mitigate the damage caused by the black water that flooded the homes. Often, this meant demolishing flooring and a minimum of two feet of drywall in the affected areas of the homes while protecting the resident’s cherished possessions to the best of our ability as indicated in the pictures. If black water isn’t professionally removed, cleaned and dried out, infections and illnesses can occur from the spread of microbes in the air.
